Ceiling fans collect dust fast in Singapore, and a dusty fan blows it around the room every time it spins. The good news: you don't need to climb on a chair to clean it.
What you need
- A washable ceiling fan duster. Choose a telescopic set so you can reach the fan from the floor. It comes as a round duster or a T-shaped duster, from S$8.79.
- An old sheet or newspaper to catch falling dust.
- A damp cloth, like a sheet from the Disposable Cleaning Cloth Roll, for the motor housing and light.
Step by step
- Switch the fan off and wait until the blades stop completely.
- Cover the floor and bed under the fan with an old sheet or newspaper.
- Extend the pole until the duster reaches the blades comfortably while you stand on the floor.
- Wipe each blade from the centre outwards, top and bottom, so the dust falls onto the sheet rather than the room.
- Wipe the centre of the fan and the light cover with a damp cloth if you can reach them safely.
- Fold the sheet inwards to carry the dust away, then wash the duster head so it's ready for next time.
How often?
Every two to four weeks for fans you use daily. A quick wipe often is easier than scrubbing thick dust.
For jobs a pole can't do
For stubborn marks on switches, walls or the fan's light cover, a MagicFoam Melamine Sponge cleans with just water. When you do need to reach higher, for example to change a bulb, use a proper step ladder with a handrail such as the StepGuard Foldable Step Ladder (3, 4 or 5 steps), never a chair or stool.
Frequently asked questions
Can I wash the duster?
Yes, the Fuho ceiling fan duster is washable, so you can reuse it instead of buying refills.
Round duster or T duster?
Both clean fan blades; pick the shape you find easier to handle. Choose a set with the telescopic pole if you want to clean from the floor.
Is delivery free?
Delivery is free in Singapore on orders from S$35, and usually arrives in 1–2 working days. You also earn Fuho Coins on every order.
